Thank you for coming to Trombanga.com, the official web site of this very exciting Latin jazz group - TROMBANGA. TROMBANGA performs in the Pacific Northwest in and around Seattle, Washington.

A little story of "TROMBANGA" - it is an 9 piece band that specializes in Latin Jazz, SALSA, Merengue, and Cha Cha. The band started rehearsing in October of 2004. By mixing the Malo Castro's Latin jazz quintet, "Clave con Jazz", with Bud Parker's arrangements for five trombones, "TROMBANGA" was born.

Trombanga means "heavy trombones" in slang Spanish. The trombone and rhythm section sound has had a long history in Latin Jazz. Eddie Palmieri, Manny Oquenda, Willie Colon, and others have used 2 and 3 trombones to back groups. But Trombanga uses 4 trombones with a Latin rhythm section.

TROMBANGA offers the "big band" sound of a Tito Puente orchestra or the smaller intimate sound of Manny Oquendo's Conjunto Libre.
